Korea - Seoul

After months of deliberating over the idea of going to Korea, I finally booked a ticket. I bought the ticket in November through Flight Centre, which was such a nice experience. I didn't fancy waiting until the following year - too much time to think about how much money the whole trip might cost! Better to just bite the bullet and go! So, I went in January.
I did have the advantage of staying with a friend and her family, so I saved on accommodation.
I have had a bit of a Korea fascination for some time... nothing historical, just the Korean way of life! The food, the people and my obsession with Gangnam Style and kimchi sort of inspired me. I also have a lovely friend, Hyomi. She was one of my English students about two years ago, but converted into a friend. We come from such different worlds, yet we get along like two peas in a pod.

Here are some of favourite pictures from the capital city, Seoul... Opa Gangnam Style of course.

Flowers, Flowers and more flowers!

Here are a few pictures from the church where we are getting married next year. The church is in West Vancouver called St. Francis in the Wood.

Then, on Monday we went to Stanley Park to walk around the rhododendron garden. We also saw a lady and a gentleman duck having a nap together. I think he was looking out while she got her beauty sleep.

After, we headed home for a curry and to watch Sherlock... However, it was the worst... curry .... ever. I asked if they could make it cream/milk free as I shouldn't be eating dairy as part of the treatment for my skin. Possibly she understood - dairy, flavour, spicy free? It tasted like tasteless soap... with bits of rubbery chicken. Just as well I was too distracted by beautiful Benedict Cumberbatch to really care! Jose of course ordered perfectly cooked chicken tikka.

Fort Langley

Everyone talks about how lovely Fort Langley is, yet we have never been there. Rachel and I were deciding what to do for Mother's Day / Mum's birthday, and knowing that mum loves it, we thought it might be a nice place to go.

Luckily, the weather was beautiful - just a few clouds in the sky, but nice and warm.
First of all, the drive out there is really nice. Some of the houses in and around Fort Langley are so beautiful. Old, but very well kept and pretty gardens; I could definitely see us living there. The feel of the town is really olde-worlde. We went into an antiques market, and I almost had a 'this is all too cute' heart attack. Think: tea cups, laces, mason jars and old books... and everything else antique-y.

Jose and I went off on our own little jolt where I greedily ate a whole bag of 100s and 1000s and Jose' had a Bailey's ice cream.
We went back to the Fort, but didn't actually make it in because we got there too late. We did; however, watch a very cheesy/informative video about the history of Fort Langley, which was surprisingly quite interesting.
I definitely want to go back soon, as there is also a beautiful bridal store that looked rather wonderful!
